Your body is designed to repair itself after an illness, injury, or traumatic event.
It may need support (e.g., medication, therapy, etc.) if its self-healing capacity becomes overwhelmed,
but the thing that helps is not actually the thing that heals.
Your body takes care of the healing on its own.
When a physical or emotional issue seems stuck in your system,
it may be that your body needs help rebalancing the underlying energy flows that keep things functioning well.
Acupressure is a gentle, non-invasive way to help you do that.
Acupressure is a component of Chinese medicine in which pressure is applied to stimulate specific points on the body.
Imbalances in the way the energy moves through your system can result in variety of symptoms, including
- pain
- muscle tension
- fatigue
- digestive disturbances
- sleep problems
- anxiety
- lack of focus
- inability to relax
- difficulty letting go
Stimulating acupressure points helps balance your body’s physiological energy and can help relieve both physical and emotional symptoms.
Research shows that stimulating acupressure points has a calming effect on the nervous system.
Studies also indicate that acupressure can be effective with a number of issues
including pain, fatigue, side effects of cancer treatments, and anxiety.
Acupressure is an excellent complement to medical or psychological care. It can be especially helpful when you have a range of symptoms that, when viewed together, don’t make sense from a conventional Western medicine point of view.
Christine McDevitt, your acupressure practitioner at Farfalla Integrative Health, conducts virtual and in-person acupressure sessions. She can also teach you to how to use acupressure as part of a self-care routine to help address specific symptoms, manage stress, and keep your body-mind better regulated.
